Dry Brushing is the busy mom’s newest way to get a few minutes of peace and quiet (and gloriously glowing skin). If you’re looking for some quick, easy, and cheap ways to incorporate self-care into your life, then Dry Brushing should top that list! Plus, who doesn’t want younger looking skin?
Added Bonus: Dry Brushing will not only rehabilitate your skin but could change the way you look at beauty and self-care as a whole.
Dry Brushing is an inexpensive way to tend to your wellbeing, your beauty, and your relaxation.

Prioritizing Beauty
As a work-at-home-mom of two young boys, I have a super hard time putting beauty on my self-care agenda. I have been known to be one of those women who barely showers twice a week.
Beauty is LAST on my list of things to do.
I think one of the root causes of mommy burnout is that we literally sacrifice all traces of our daily routine at the alter of motherhood. This includes showering, sleeping, exercising, socializing, and goal setting.
So, one of my goals this year is to step-up my beauty regime (or…ahem…establish a beauty regime). Phase one of this is grand scheme is to get a shower more than twice a week—a REAL shower (lasting longer than 5 minutes).

The Skinny on Dry Brushing
Dry Brushing has been on my radar for months. The simple act of using a dry brush on your skin once a day is the beauty world’s latest and greatest way to treat yourself. Everyone from GOOP to Real Simple Magazine has chimed in on the benefits.
Though there are claims of eliminating cellulite, detoxing your system, and even getting rid of stretch marks, most appear to be debunked. But, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get your brush on!
I mean, at minimum, it exfoliates, and I’m sure we ALL need a little of that magic.
Dry Brush Your Way to Happiness
One of the items on my Christmas Want List this year was one of these magic making dry brushes. My husband was pretty surprised at my excitement over unwrapping my new horse brush. He didn’t get it. (Here’s the one I got–it’s less than $5 bucks!)
But, I was actually SUPER stoked about getting this coarse round brush. My simple three step shower routine was about to commence!
STEP ONE: Dry Brush BEFORE each shower for just a few minutes.
STEP TWO: Shower at least every other day in a NON RUSHED WAY. Sounds sad, but that’s actually a step up for me.
STEP THREE: Moisturize (spray oils, body butters, etc.)
Enjoy. Don’t rush—after all, it’s 20 minutes total. Don’t waste it on running through your to-do list or worrying about the kids.

Changes from Dry Brushing
Let me just reiterate how non-existent my beauty routine has been since becoming a mother. And, I know I’m NOT alone. We moms give up everything—including taking care of ourselves—we just don’t prioritize it.
But, because of this lovely round brush, I’ve been able to create a wonderful new habit of establishing a beauty routine. And, ladies—it has brought me such joy! It is truly amazing what 20 minutes of taking care of your skin, body and face will do to a person.
Now, instead of showering being something I had to (reluctantly) make time for, I look forward to my shower time. It’s no longer something I have to squeeze in between laundry and dinner. It’s something I have rehabituated myself into NEEDING.
Who knew exfoliating could lead to such things?
I’m telling you—there’s more to DRY BRUSHING than meets the eye! Do yourself a favor and establish this beauty routine today. It’s totally what you’re missing.
