Are you losing yourself to the black hole of motherhood? Can you remember the last time you peed by yourself, plucked those eyebrows, or got out of the house solo? If not, then, it’s time for a recalibration of your priorities, friend. That’s right! It’s time to focus on you. But figuring out how to actually do that can be overwhelming, right? By taking a few easy steps, you can create a SAHM weekly schedule that makes room for everything (including YOU)!
Don’t worry. I’ve got a CHEAT SHEET just for you!
The quickest way to find happiness as a stay at home mom is by giving yourself these THREE IMPORTANT THINGS EACH WEEK!

Three Steps to Happy Mom Life
When you’re in the thick of it (especially when you’ve got a toddler or baby), motherhood can swallow you whole. You can lose all of your identity except the MOM identity.
Stay at home moms fall prey to this loss of identity issue for obvious reasons. It’s OUR JOB to take care of the kids, right? YES. But, not 24/7, seven days a week. This isn’t the 50’s.
We know the importance of taking care of ourselves. But, putting this knowledge into practice is where most moms get stuck.
That’s what I want to help you with!
With my WEEKLY GOALS CHEAT SHEET, you don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Using these three steps, you can plot out your weekly plan to reclaim YOUR TIME.

STEP #1: Get Alone Time
First things first. Where are your kids? If they’re with you 24/7, then this is the root of your problem. I love my kids as much as the next mom, but you HAVE to get away. It’s just a necessity.
You need to get a WEEKLY SCHEDULE that gives you predictable, worry free periods of time AWAY from your kids.
It doesn’t have to be an all day thing (but it can be). It does need to be a few hours a couple of times a week. So, the first step is to find somewhere for your kids to go where they can be safe, cared for, and on lock down.
I’ve used all of these options to get some time away:
- Mother’s Day Out (MDO) programs at local churches (even if you aren’t a member of the church!).
- Take the leap and GET A SITTER! We’ve used Care.com to find our babysitters, and we’ve also used the Wyndy App. BOTH have been amazing.
- Local Facebook groups often cater to babysitting in your community. That’s a good place to get recommendations.
- Get parents or in-laws to take care of the kids for a few hours a week.
- Trade mornings out with another mom in your neighborhood/area. You take one day & let her take another!
- You could also share a sitter with a friend.
My advice: DO ALL IF YOU CAN!
The important thing is to get some time alone, so you can start getting reacquainted with yourself, your desires, and your dreams. A lot has changed since you became a mom, and you NEED to have time alone to digest your new world.

STEP #2: Get Space
SAHM’s can lose track of the days if we’re not careful. This is just the lifestyle of the stay at home mom world! So, you have to schedule time to get out of the house. Now, moms: I’m not talking about getting out of the house to take your kids to the park or to a mommy-and-me class.
You need to get out of the house WITHOUT your kids in tow. WHA?
That’s right. Go to a movie. Join a mom group outing for coffee, lunch, or wine. Go to a gallery. Find peace at the local library. WHATEVER. Just get out SOLO.
With my Weekly Schedule, you can become an organized stay at home mom that has time for everything–including time ALONE!

STEP #3: Get Clarity
Now, this may be one that you DON’T want to hear, but it doesn’t make this any less true. You need to get your body moving. Now, I didn’t say you needed to start training for a marathon. But, you need to get some regularly scheduled blood pumping exercise into the rotation.
Why? Well, for a slew of reasons! It helps you process your life. It’s like the world’s cheapest therapy (which, BTW I also recommend you do!). Bottom line, it will help you reconnect with your body, mind, and self.
It’s really that simple.
You don’t have to join a gym, or a yoga studio to make this happen. You can even create a stay at home mom workout schedule that (sometimes) involves your kids. For example, I used to drop one kid off at a 2-day a week preschool for two hours, and go for long stroller walks with my baby.
He’d get a morning nap, and I’d get an hour of exercise (and podcast time!).
I came to rely on those walks. I needed those walks. It was like the gateway drug to getting my happiness back.
